SaltWorks(TM) Will Showcase 31 Gourmet Salts at 2006 Fancy Food Show in NYC

SaltWorks(TM) Will Showcase 31 Gourmet Salts at 2006 Fancy Food Show in NYC

REDMOND, Wash. (PRWEB) July 2, 2006

People no longer take Mark Zoske’s ideas with a grain of salt: What began as a hobby for Zoske just five years ago has grown into SaltWorks(TM), Inc. (http://www.saltworks.us or http://www.seasalt.com), one of the world’s leading purveyors of specialty cooking salts.

SaltWorks, which boasts the largest selection of specialty gourmet salts available, will offer its unique and rare salts at the 52nd Summer Fancy Food Show, July 9-11, at the Javits Center in New York City (Booth #2880). Some 30,000 visitors and 2,100 exhibitors from the specialty food industry from around the world will attend.

The show affords an opportunity for SaltWorks to showcase its Artisan Salt Company (http://www.artisansalt.com ) division, which is fast becoming a major supplier of gourmet salts to consumers and the food industry. Artisan is building its own buzz, not just for the 31 varieties of salts it offers, but also for its eye-catching package design. Artisan Salt’s Alaea Coarse Hawaiian Sea Salt was recently named a 2006 Product Awards finalist in the category of Outstanding Packaging or Design by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT).

Noting that gourmet salt is the hottest category in the gourmet food industry, Zoske attributes his success to several factors: “People are discovering recipes on TV, in magazines such as Cooking Light and Sunset, and on the Internet that call for gourmet salts; these salts are becoming an integral part of contemporary cooking. It is more and more common for stores to carry six or more varieties of gourmet salt.”

Zoske says both restaurants and anyone who likes to cook should use sea salt: “It’s less than a penny per serving, but more important, it’s healthier and tastes better than plain table salt.” Zoske says people are more health- conscious in general, and Baby Boomers in particular turn to a variety of salts for healthful ways to add interest to food.

See SaltWorks’ gourmet salt reference guide at http://www.saltworks.us/salt_info/si_Gourmet_Reference.asp.

Third Brigade to Deliver Two Presentations at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s 2006 Blue Health IT Symposium

Third Brigade to Deliver Two Presentations at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s 2006 Blue Health IT Symposium

Ottawa, Ontario; Reston, VA (PRWEB) November 13, 2006

Third Brigade, Inc. (http://www.thirdbrigade.com), a security software company that specializes in host-based intrusion defense systems, today announced that Brian O’Higgins, Chief Technology Officer, and Blake Sutherland, Vice President of Product Management and Co-Chair of the Vulnerability Assessment Working Group of the eHealth Vulnerability Reporting Program (EHVRP) will present at the 2006 Blue Health IT Symposium.

Mr. O’Higgins’ presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 1:15pm CT at the Peabody Memphis Hotel, Memphis, TN, and is entitled, “Being Proactive for Zero-Day Threats, Using Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to Protect Critical Applications.”

This session will provide an overview of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) vs. Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and outline some widely divergent approaches to IPS. A prominent Arizona health insurer selected a host-based IPS (HIPS) approach to shield critical applications to buy time to deploy patches on a sensible maintenance schedule, rather than an emergency mode reactive schedule. The requirements were to monitor and alert on threats as they occur, but also to automatically protect systems that contain critical data or sensitive information. A case study of the insurer’s deployment experience from testing to operations will be outlined.

Mr. Sutherland’s presentation is scheduled for Thursday, November 16 at 1:30pm CT at the Peabody Memphis Hotel, Memphis, TN, and is entitled, “eHealth Vulnerability Reporting Program (EHVRP) Update: Practical Approaches to Addressing Vulnerabilities in eHealth Systems”.

The eHealth Vulnerability Reporting Program (EHVRP) is an industry initiative that has been formed to ensure customers of eHealth systems have the necessary information to appropriately manage risk related to eHealth systems. The program hopes to do this by establishing a mechanism for eHealth system vendors and their customers to access and report system vulnerabilities in a mutually acceptable, beneficial and confidential manner. The initial focus of this program is on Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. As part of this program, demonstration projects are being used to validate that vulnerability information used in conjunction with appropriate compensating controls are a practical way of quickly reducing risk while maintaining system usability

The focus of the presentation will be on the findings to date with respect to the level of vulnerabilities being found in EHR systems and the practical approaches being used to effectively secure these systems while maintaining usability and without introducing significant new costs of ownership.

Third Brigade will also exhibit at the conference at Booth #49.

Dates and Times:

Wednesday, November 15    3:45pm – 7:00pm CT

Thursday, November 16    11:30am – 1:30pm CT

About Third Brigade

Third Brigade specializes in providing host intrusion defense systems to government, financial services, health care, telecommunications and other organizations that need to detect and prevent attacks that exploit vulnerabilities in commercial and custom software, including web applications. It enables you to create and enforce comprehensive security policies that proactively protect critical applications, sensitive data, and hosts, ensure regulatory compliance, and maximize the performance of your people, processes and hosts. Private Education School Fair Makes Its Way Across Canada for 2006

Private Education School Fair Makes Its Way Across Canada for 2006

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) September 26, 2006

Our Kids announces the Our Kids Private Education School Fair for 2006, the most successful school fair for private education in Canada since its inception in 2002. Making stops across Canada in Ottawa, Oakville, Toronto, and Vancouver, British Columbia, the fair will draw thousands of families and a variety of private educational institutions in its 4-city tour from September to November.

Schedule for Our Kids Private Education School Fair 2006

Ottawa: Saturday, September 30, 2006. 11am-4pm

Ottawa Congress Centre

Oakville: Sunday, October 15, 2006. 12pm-4pm

Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre

Toronto: Saturday, October 28, 2006. 11am-3pm

Roy Thompson Hall

Vancouver: Saturday, November 28, 2006. 11am-4pm

Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre

The Our Kids Private Education School Fair is the best-attended school fair in Canada, providing a unique opportunity to those attending to be able to explore a plethora of Canadian schools beyond the public education system, all in one place. Families will be able to acquire information for each school as well as speak directly to representatives.

According to the Ministry of Education, government spending on the public school system in Ontario is $ 17.2 billion, spread over 4800 elementary and secondary institutions. This figure is still millions of dollars short of the ideal. With government spending on public education limited, scrutiny over the academic standards and safety of public schools continues to grow.

On the other hand, funding for private and independent schools is acquired through private resources. As a result, these institutions tend to have better facilities and a more conducive environment for learning. Such popular examples of private and independent schools as Montessori, Waldorf, Gifted, Boarding, and Bilingual, have now become a viable alternative to families of all backgrounds.

Tipper Gore to Speak at ACA 2006 Convention; Diversity, Disasters Top Issues for Counselors Today

Tipper Gore to Speak at ACA 2006 Convention; Diversity, Disasters Top Issues for Counselors Today

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) March 23, 2006

Empowering Latino families. Counseling soldiers in combat. Energizing older workers. Coping with hurricanes and other traumas. Reducing test anxiety in schools.

These are just some of the societal issues facing individuals, families, schools, and organizations today and all are on the program for the 2006 American Counseling Association/Canadian Counselling Association Annual Convention which begins Saturday, April 1.

Nearly 3,000 counseling professionals from the U.S., Canada, and 16 other countries will convene in Montreal this month to learn, share ideas and discuss effective strategies for helping their clients cope with a multitude of mental health, career and school counseling issues. Counselors from Japan, United Arab Emirates, Chile, Italy, Palau and 11 other countries will be in attendance at the largest global event for counseling professionals.

The 2006 Convention is being held in conjunction with the Canadian Counselling Association (CCA). The convention theme—“Culture-Centered and Diversity Counseling Empowers all Families”—reflects global concerns with understanding and appreciating one’s culture and strengthening families. Canadians have a huge stake in multiculturalism due to a population lull. We are going to have to rely on people coming in from outside of Canada to supplement the labor force,” said Barbara MacCallum, CCA Executive Director.

Mental health issues also loom large in both the U.S. and Canada as both countries face challenges in obtaining reimbursement from insurance companies for some mental health services. Tipper Gore, wife of former vice president Al Gore and a strong advocate for mental health issues will focus everyone’s attention on mental health issues in her keynote presentation Sunday, April 2 at 9:30 a.m. Stephen Lewis, former UN Special Envoy and one of Canada’s most influential commentators on social affairs, international development and human rights, will deliver a keynote address Saturday, April 1 at 9:30 a.m.

Attendees will choose from over 500 educational sessions on traditional topics such as marriage counseling, teen suicide, depression and career counseling; contemporary issues such as Cybersex and Internet safety; and specialty topics such as counseling persons with disabilities.

“Counseling professionals today are called upon to address a wide array of issues and they must approach all of them with a strong understanding of diversity and multiculturalism,” said ACA President Patricia Arredondo.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Interviews can be arranged with ACA officers, members or speakers.

E-mail BHeatherington -at- counseling.org for assistance. From March 30 – April 2, contact Brandt onsite in Montreal at 703-307-1574 (cell phone).

The American Counseling Association (http://www.counseling.org) is a nonprofit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession. Founded in 1952, ACA is the world’s largest association exclusively representing more than 44,000 professional counselors across a wide spectrum from school counselors to family counselors, addictions counselors, and many other practice specialties.

Mr. Natural Canada – 2006 Neutron Sports Bodybuilding Champion

Mr. Natural Canada – 2006 Neutron Sports Bodybuilding Champion

Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) September 1, 2006

Neutron is part of the International Fitness Sanctioning Body (IFSB) and has the highest standard in drug screening tests in the world. All athletes must pass to compete in their events.

Robert Lagana from Ottawa (Nepean), Ontario won the overalls and most muscular bodybuilding titles last weekend at the 2006 Neutron Sports Nationals. The event was held at Carleton University in Ottawa. The audience participation factor was at its highest level this year.

Robert says, “I came in 2nd place last year and learned from my mistakes.” His hard work paid off this year.

With deep appreciation, Robert says, “I would like to thank everyone for your support especially family, friends, co-workers and the entire Neutron organization. I’m on stage not only for myself, but for you as well.”

Robert says, “I planned for this show and started following a nutrition program designed by myself, which allowed me to peak on my target date. This title is the biggest competitive achievement someone can obtain in the IFSB Bodybuilding level. Winning the titles make me feel like a true and honest champion of drug free bodybuilding. I am proud to be drug free in a sub-culture where drug use is rampant.”

The Neutron is the first organization and only to implement a special screening process called the “SCAN” test.

•tUsed by Police Organizations

•tFBI, CIA, RCMP, CSIS

Unlike the majority of bodybuilding and fitness organizations, Neutron Sports has a primary business in promoting and conducting drug free events with the highest standards in drug testing policies, secondary to monetary profit. You can read more about their mandate at http://www.neutronsports.com

Robert says, “Each competitor spends hundreds of dollars to compete and in essence their cause in the big picture is hardly effective if our marketing efforts don’t bring in the interest of the public. Each Neutron Sports event furthers the natural drug free movement.”

This is why it is so important to show your support at Neutron events by coming and enjoying the inspirational, motivational and entertaining competitors.

Robert says, “Parents in particular, need to care more about promoting a drug free health and sports society where their children grow and play a part of.”

Children need good sports role models and role models that do not depend on illegal substances to achieve their goals.

Robert says, “I hope others will redirect their thoughts on the intent to use drugs for sports performance or musculature gains. I hope their intent is to avoid putting unknown and dangerous substances into their bodies and to believe gains can be achieved drug free. Give more credit to your ability to succeed.”

There’s no sense in poisoning yourself because others are doing the same. Be an individual with good morals and a champion will rise. Robert Lagana provides speeches to high schools, places of corporate employment and youth drop-in centres. Bi-Weekly (AA) Anabolics Anonymous meetings are also available, one on one or group meetings. Robert is also available for radio and T.V media discussions about the today’s problem of youth thinking or taking steroids.

You can find more information about drug free bodybuilding and Robert Lagana on-line at http://www.robertlagana.com
